Muscat Municipality Carries Out Awareness Programmes For School Students And Parents

The Community Partnership of Muscat Municipality implemented today (Wednesday) some awareness programmes for students of Al-Baseir basic school (1-4) in Mutrah, and Haritha bin Al-Numan basic school (7-10) in al Amirat. The programmes aimed to strengthen the partnership with the school community in collaboration with the Directorate General of education in Muscat Governorate.

The programmes has included an "Awareness Dialogue” introduced in Al-Baseir basic school (1-4) in Mutrah, showing a video with a story intended to fight the phenomena of tampering with public facilities and maintaining them.

Some publications were also distributed in addition to painting and coloring workshops plus an educating competition. Such activities are intended to create a responsible generation that recognizes the importance of maintaining healthy hygiene and public facilities. The awareness dialogue is an important part of the school project as it focuses on organising a direct dialogue with students in addition to some discussion sessions on many issues.

Another programme has been implemented In collaboration with the Department of Health Affairs in the Directorate General of Muscat Municipality in Al Amrirat. The programme entitled "The Awareness Majlis" was implemented for students and parents in Haritha bin Al-Numan basic school  ( 7-10) in Al-Amirat. It has included a lecture for parents talking about the potential harm of tobacco, and the ways to fight it in school environment, with a focus on health practices maintaining public health.

It should be noted that the project school will continue until the end of upcoming December. The department will organize the awareness Majlis programme on (Thursday) at Al-Hadhara basic school (1-4) in Grand Mutrah. It will include a lecture with a video presentation on the phenomenon of tampering with public utilities, in addition to the Young Inspector programme. A field visit will be organised also to one of the women beauty centers in Mutrah in collaboration with Al-Wadi Al-Kabeer basic school ( 10-12). The visit shall acquaint with the most important health conditions followed in the inspection of women beauty centers and the way to monitor observations.

The importance of applying these initiative in schools stems from the important belief on the individual’s effective role in society, which suits exactly with Municipality`s desire to deliver its message to all segments of the society, in a way that is capable of instilling the values of maintaining public properties and creating an environment-safe behavior to limit negative phenomena.
