Muscat Municipality continues its campaign eradicating the Aedes Aegypti mosquito
- 280 of Municipal specialists in spraying and pest control.

The Health affairs and pest control departments of Muscat Municipality join the Ministry of Health in the campaign combating the Aedes Aegypti mosquito. The Municipality dedicated about 280 specialists of pest control and about 43 pick up vehicles in this campaign.
Spraying has covered the wilayah of Seeb taking into account the appropriate timing when the mosquito is at maximum activeness which is from sunset to noon time.
Spraying machines use ultra-low volume smoke and other environment-friendly pesticides certified by the World Health Organization like the Silicone oil. The spray treats the aquatic stages of the mosquito life-cycle by using a non-toxic silicone based liquid for mosquito control which forms a thin film on stagnated water surface.
However the Municipality urges local community to give hand in this campaign. Citizens and residents are asked to get rid of some practices that promote spread of pests. Of such practices include raising livestock inside houses, wrong storage of households, using sewage water and water leaks.
