With a view to encourage people to do physical activity, Muscat Municipality in al Amirat builds a walkway in al Muhaj area
• 1700 m long, 4 m wide.
• Two lanes designated for walking & cycling with 59 lighting poles.
Muscat Municipality continues its projects serving both citizens and residents in Muscat governorate. One of these projects is the walkway which was built in al Muhaj area in al Amirat. The walkway is 1700 meters long and has two lanes designated for walking and cycling. There are about 59 lighting poles installed to light the path at night.
Issa Al Riyami who is the Head of General Directorate of Muscat Municipality in al Amirat said that the project aims to promote people to practice walking and cycling, and that the Municipality has chosen the walkway due to the fact that al Amirat has no beaches for people to walk like in other wilayahs. From his side, Murad al Balushi, a member in the Municipal council, believes that such project would promote the physical activity of residents and citizens and is considered as an indicator of healthy life in modern cities.
