Municipal decision amending some provisions of local order regulating buildings in Muscat

Based on Muscat Municipality law, issued by the royal decree 38/2015, H.E Eng Mohsin Bin Mohammed Al Sheikh chairman of Muscat Municipality issued a decision No. 70/2019, amending certain provisions of Local Order No. 23/92 concerning regulation of buildings in Muscat.

The decision stipulated in Article (1): articles (104 and 106) of the Local Order No. 23/92 shall be replaced with: article (104) that "excavation or demolition or construction works may not be performed from sunset to sunrise or in official vacations or on Fridays in residential neighborhoods, only after taking prior approval from the Municipality, and under the conditions it specifies.

Article (106) stipulates that " contractors are not allowed  to initiate the work before obtaining a municipal permission and in accordance with the requirements followed in this regard. As well as, the owner of the land or his designee should install the marks at a height of (1 M) for each side of the corner flag within the borders of a piece of land, and are kept until construction is completed".

A fine to the tune of RO 500 will be levied on contractors for breach of the municipality rule. The rule will come into effect 30 days after the issue date.
