Exploiting residential houses as stores is a challenge faced by Muscat Municipality. The phenomena has indeed impacted the public health and local community by the rodents and odors and nuisance.

The phenomena also contravenes with article (115) of the local order concerning the organization of the buildings in Muscat which prohibits the establishment of the paper factories, crushers and sale of construction materials and all the work and crafts that are harmful to public health.

Randomness in storing goods, food or furniture increases the possibility of fires or spread of insects and reptiles, as well as emissions of odors that spoil the environment.
