Part of Muscat Municipality strategic plan is to develop the road network of Muscat govenorate, which includes implementing quality streets and modern traffic lights.  Such solutions are believed to have a considerable impact on reducing traffic congestion and improving the urban facade of Muscat.


The municipality is currently in progress of replacing old light bulbs with ones that are energy-saving (LED). Since 2018, a number of (7000) LED bulbs have been replaced with a completion rate of (85 %). The new LED bulbs is believed to be more efficient and energy saving. The new lighting system has also received about 1531 residual-current circuit breakers in all the 523 electrical panels.
