Financial facilities to commercial activities and leases
Through the recommendations of the Supreme committee dealing with Covid-19 pandemic, Muscat Municipality announces a range of financial facilities to mitigate the implications of covid-19 pandemic on business environment and the community.
The facilities include an exemption from the 5% municipal tax to restaurants and cafes, besides an exemption from paying the fees for renewing municipal licenses, and the fines accumulated during 2020/3/19 to 31/8/2020, deducting the fees for the prescribed period from the total prescribed fee for the businesses with expired licenses during that period. Affected individuals will also have tax breaks to fines of all types of leases that expired during the period from 19/2020 to 2020/6/1.
The Municipality points out that the leases covered by the facilities are those within the time periods entitled to the exemption, therefore, Muscat Municipality has set its electronic system to process all the requests that will be recorded, so that they shall be exempt from any prior obligations, and any fines resulting as a consequence of suspending business activities. Even the dues paid before the announcement of facilities will be processed.
