 Muscat Municipality opens the central market with new regulatory measures

Muscat Municipality announced its regulatory measures related to fruits and vegetables circulation in the Central Market in Al-Muwalih. Market traders were urged to increase direct imports from the countries of origin, in addition to local products, and companies began their preparation for this season early by increasing the number of shipments coming to the market to meet the needs of local consumers especially at Eid times, where the average number of trucks arriving daily to the market were more than 35 shipments, and the volume of imports to the market from 1/7/2020 to 28/7/2020 reached 19,600 tons.

The management of the central market announced that some regulatory measures will come into force to. The regulations determine the working hours and access to the market from 6 am to 1 pm only, in accordance with the decisions of the Supreme Committee charged with following the developments resulting from the spread of COVID-19, which refer to the night movement ban. And to ensure the safety of the products, the management has implemented a number of measures to keep pace with the other government bodies operating in the central market such as the Royal Oman Police and the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries.
