The weather changes and succession of seasons affect the prevalence of mosquitoes and insects, which requires doubling the efforts by the pest control departments in Muscat Municipality, focusing on surveying and controlling mosquito larvae breeding points in Wadis and water accumulations in the various states and neighbourhoods of Muscat Governorate; In order to reduce the effects of these insects on public health, the municipality also relies on the community’s awareness by following sound practices that protect the environment from spreading pests of all kinds, and the municipality is keen to intensify awareness and extension campaigns on the importance of pest control and its impact on human health and lifestyle by communicating with Community members in public councils, schools, exhibitions and events.
Some community practices affect the reproduction and spread of insects, and likewise, some good behaviours may protect society and the environment from their spread. Therefore, the Muscat Municipality is keen to educate members of the community about the importance of following the guidelines that prevent the spread of insects, among them the emphasis on the need to get rid of consumable waste in designated places, And by the means specified by the municipality and not to keep the waste for a long time, and to ensure the safety of the covers for manholes and sanitation tanks, as well as the importance of maintaining any leaks, whether they are drinking water or sewage.
