Muscat Municipality, represented by the Directorate General of Health Affairs and pest control departments of Muscat Municipality, plays a major role in reducing the spread of pests and rodents through periodic control programs aimed at eliminating breeding foci. Control methods begin with the detection of rodents, found prominently in bites found on wood and goods, fingerprints or holes.

The site is then cleaned and all tunnels and openings are closed. Then, either a mechanical or chemical control method is used. Of the famous mechanical methods; are the demolition or blocking of holes or immersing them in water, as well as the use of traps, which are one of the best ways to get rid of rodents. The chemical control methods use environment friendly pesticides and toxic attractants in control processes, along with powders and wax cubes.

Muscat Municipality is keen to pay attention to the cleanliness of the city and the disposal of all kinds of waste, while simultaneously developing safe solutions to reduce environmental pollution caused by waste, and urges all members to adhere to sanitary methods to deal with waste.
