Health regulations on public health activities in Muscat Governorate

Muscat Municipality pays careful attention to food and public health-related activities, as these activities have close association with human health and safety. The Municipality also intensifies its inspection campaigns on public health activities to raise the level of health awareness among owners of these activities and those working in them to comply with special requirements before carrying out their activities.
The municipal resolution no. (219/2019) adopted the health regulation on activities related to public health, where the regulation (92) contained a legal article for health requirements divided into (19) chapters that included various activities. Among these activities, the requirements necessary to be complied upon carrying out these activities, which aim to achieve a high level of Health and Environmental Protection, and to establish public and private rules, responsibilities and requirements for owners of food establishments about the safety and safety of food products.
As for those working in public health-related activities, requirements are set forth in Decree No. (219/2019), including obtaining a scientific qualification or training certificate issued by an accredited institute with valid health certificates issued by the Competent Authority stating that the workers are free from infectious diseases, and the obligation to conduct periodic medical examinations on them. With regard to their housing, the workers & apos; accommodation must not be open to any of the facilities of the building intended for the exercise of activity, and the provision of hand washes provided with liquid soap and sterile materials, in addition to the obligation of employees not to smoke in the shop facilities, to adhere to personal hygiene and to wear work clothes in accordance with the requirements of the profession specified by the municipality of Muscat, such as hats, masks, gloves, manicure, hygiene care, washing hands with soap and water before work and after touching any source of pollution.the decision also warns that workers should not wear watches, rings and ornaments while working and avoid unhealthy practices while exercising.
Muscat Municipality has confirmed in accordance with the Health Requirements Regulation and in accordance with Article No. (3) that no activity or facilities may be added to the place where the activity is held, except after obtaining prior approval from Muscat Municipality. Likewise, it is not permissible to obtain a license to practice any of the activities related to public health in the following cases:
A- If the type of land use subject to the license application is residential or agricultural, unless otherwise stipulated in the health requirements for practicing each activity.
B-the presence of sewage pipes, sewer inspection rooms or analysis tanks in the place where the license application is applied.
C - if the place under the permit application is below ground level, unless public safety and water drainage are available. Muscat Municipality employees who have been granted judicial control status have been able to enter and inspect shops and accessories at any time, and monitor all means of Transport for public health-related activities.
Muscat Municipality also calls for communication with Muscat Communications Center (1111) to make any observations indicating that these requirements are violated, stressing the need to adhere to the controls, take preventive measures, and ensure compliance with health requirements.
