Muscat Municipal Slaughterhouses Ready for the Ramadhan
Muscat Municipality confirmed its slaughterhouses in Seeb and al Amirat are ready to receive the holy month of Ramadan, and to meet the demand to meat in this period. And due to the exceptional circumstances of COVID-19, the Municipality launched a pre-booking system for slaughterhouses; in an attempt to prevent gatherings and crowds at the two facilities. The health team at both facilities conducts continuous tests to livestock and carcases to ensure they are free of diseases, and fit for human consumption.
The pre-booking system for individuals will begin on Wednesday (7/4/2021) until the first day of Ramadan, and meat will be received 24 hours after the reservation, that is from Thursday (8/4/2021) from 7:30 to 11am. As for companies, meat shops and meat companies dealing with slaughterhouses will have their carcases ready at evening only, or through the Oman livestock app, or through the livestock dealers located in Muscat Municipality slaughterhouses during from 8am-3pm.
Whereas Sheep, local livestock, camels and individual cows will be received in a limited number from Thursday (8/4/2021) until the first of Ramadan, during the evening period only from 6 to 7pm.
The slaughterhouses will return to their normal working regime from the second day of the holy month of Ramadan. The timing in Seeb and al Amirat will be from 8am to 12:45 pm, and from 6am to 8am for companies.
