Muscat Municipality Intensifies Reinstatement Efforts in North Batinah Governorate




Within the ongoing cooperation made between government entities across the Sultanate, Muscat Municipality continues its service efforts to address the damages to infrastructure of north al Batinah governorate caused by the extreme weather condition of tropical cyclone Shaheen.

The Municipality has deployed field teams and a fleet of heavy vehicles and equipment to support the affected areas, and boosting the capabilities of the municipal sector to perform its roles in ensuring proper reinstatement of the damaged infrastructure as soon as possible.

The Municipality provided 104 cleaning workers, (7) heavy equipment with capacity of (24) tons, in addition to (8) heavy equipment of capacity (10) tons, (4) equipment capacity (2) tons, and (11) different equipment. The Municipal teams were assigned to open the damaged streets and roads by removing excessive flush flooding, sand, dust, uprooted tree and other debris. The work will also include restoration of some service facilities, like lighting poles, vacuuming and cleaning streets, squares and markets, and backfilling low-lying sites and water accumulation. It is hoped that these efforts will continue over 10 continuous and extendable days.
