Muscat Governorate: Ambitious Strategies for Oman Vision 2040



- Royal decree (101/2020) affirms the status of the governorates and supports their competencies.

 - Seeking excellence in four pillars: sustainable environment, institutional governance, economic development, and community.


The unique diversity of the Omani governorates in their nature, geography and atmosphere is a characteristic that gives the country a cultural and aesthetic value, making each of them unique. Muscat governorate which stretches to cover 4000 sq. kilometres area combines six wilayahs Muscat, Mutrah, Bousher, Seeb, Amirat, and Qurayyat. All the six differ in geography, as they spread from flat plains, majestic mountains, sandy hills, to clean coastlines.


The royal decree (101/2020) affirms the status of these provinces by strengthening the competencies of their governors, making them move smoothly to a new stage of empowerment, growth and prosperity. With the potential of each governorate, we are witnessing a promising drive towards ambitious goals to achieve sustainable development as an important step to translate Oman`s ambitious Vision 2040.

Success stories often begin with a smart vision, that is built on a solid foundation by investing in available strengths, resources and opportunities. Muscat governorate has developed its vision; "Making Muscat Sustainable, Prosperous and Vibrant", to keep pace with the future aspirations of the Sultanate of Oman and to consolidate the concept of sustainability in preserving the gains of accomplishments.

The strategic objectives of Muscat governorate are based on four main axes, starting from the community and ending to it, attempting to improve its lifestyle and to provide municipal and electronic services in all areas.
 
Achievements are being made in accordance with the supreme mission of Muscat Governorate, which aims to "promote the welfare of the community, relying on sustainable development and providing integrated services while preserving the authentic Omani values.

As a translation of the royal directives of His Majesty on the importance to listen to young people, officials of Muscat governorate has recently organized a series of meetings targeting young people in the six wilayahs of Muscat. Through these meetings, the governorate sought to know the ambitions of young people, meet their needs and to introduce them to the 2040 vision.
