UVL Robotics corporation inaugurated its new service in Muscat which is delivery of postal packages, goods or food via the unmanned aerial vehicle "drone". The initiative was launched in cooperation with some local e-commerce companies and relevant courier service providers.
Phase one will be delivery of packages to residents of Muscat Bay residential complex, Qantap and tourist areas, while in subsequent phases the service will grow to cover other areas in Muscat: Yeti, Yenkit, Khairan and As`sifah.
The electric powered drone can reach up to 25 kms and carry up to 5 kilograms. The drone will contain a box having an electronic display for payment and taking out postal parcels after entering the interactive code.
Such initiative aims to strengthen partnership with specialized establishments to promote technological capabilities and to harness artificial intelligence in providing services. It is also hoped that the service will maintain sustainability and accessibility of services, plus to improve the quality of services offered in Muscat Governorate.
