To Combat the Aedes Aegypti
Muscat Municipality & Ministry of Health Begins a Joint Control Campaig
As part of the active partnership to combat the spread of Aedes aegypti, Muscat Municipality, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, launched a spraying campaign in some areas in Muscat Governorate to control the breeding sites of mosquitoes, particularly the yellow fever mosquito which causes dengue fever.
The campaign, which was launched on Sunday, will continue for several days, attempting to eliminate the breeding grounds where the Aedes aegypti mosquito live and breed. The spraying starts early at six o`clock until eleven o`clock in the morning, as this time is known for mosquito most activity. The efforts will cover areas of northern Al-Ghubra, Al-Ansab and southern al-Hail. A total of (28) workers, (13) monitors and (7) supervisors and (22) vehicles will all take part in the effort.
The campaign is part of the ongoing cooperation between Muscat Municipality and the Ministry of Health to ensure preparedness of preventive measures to combat mosquitoes and Aedes aegypti in particular.
