Muscat Municipality Builds Water Drainage Canal in al-Udhaiba
Attempting to exert sustainable solutions to address the issue of accumulating rainwater, Muscat Municipality is building a surface water drainage canal in al-Udhaiba 6 area in Bousher, due to the frequent impact caused by accumulation of rainwater in the area.
The project is to construct a 2200-metre-long canal adjacent to Muscat International Airport to drain the waters coming from Sultan Qaboos Street so to flow into the existing canal at the airport land, as well as the establishment of box culverts under November 18 Street, and an open canal that will be 500 metres long and 5 metres wide, extending from November 18 Street through al-Udhaiba park, directly to the mouth of the sea.
The municipality makes sure that the designs will help protect neighbourhoods and facilities from flash floods according to quality and efficient standards, and to ensure smooth traffic flow in different climatic conditions.
