Ansab-Jefnain Dual Carriageway (Phase Two) to be Implemented Early Next Year
As an interpretation of the supreme directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to implement an additional package of development projects in Muscat governorate during the five-year plan (2021-2025), Muscat Municipality will soon begin construction of the three-lane dual carriageway project of Al-Ansab-Al-Jefnain, starting from Falaj Al Sham in Bousher to Al jafnain area in Seeb. The project will also convert the existing roundabouts into flyovers and tunnels, in addition to building side protections and drainage canals.
The project will transform the three roundabouts located at Al-Ansab street - which stretches from Muscat highway to Falaj Ash`Sham area- into overpasses and intersections, in the following ways:
• The current roundabout of Al-Ansab: To be replaced by a flyover with free lanes, below it an intersection with traffic lights.
• The first roundabout of Falaj Ash`Sham: To be replaced by a flyover with free lanes, and below it an intersection with traffic lights.
• The second roundabout of Falaj Ash`Shamt: To be replaced by a bridge with free lanes, with a tunnel built under it.
The project is hoped to enhance the traffic flow in different climate conditions, improve traffic mobility and development between the governorates of Muscat, Ad`Dakhiliyya and North Ash`Sharqiyya, and benefiting the establishments and neighbourhoods adjacent to the road. The implementation of the project begins in the first quarter of 2023, and is hoped to complete within (36) months period.
