Muscat Municipality Celebrates the International Labour Day



Muscat Municipality celebrated on May 1st the International Labour Day, in recognition of the efforts exerted by labourers and their contribution to the improvement of service work in various municipal sectors.
The celebration of this occasion included a number of various sports events held at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bousher; including: cricket and volleyball competition, a tug-of-war competition, marathon, table tennis. There were (8) teams participating in the tournament with (30) players, in addition to (2) administrators for each team.
It is fair to mention that the total number of municipality workers is (1631) of which (33%) are employees. The percentage of Omani workers (15%) while the number of expatriate workers (85%). (95%) of workers work in public services, (48%) in technical services, and (67%) of service nature jobs, The statistics indicated that the average service of Omani workers is 11 years, while non-Omani is 14 years.
