Rainwater Drainage Canals in Mahaj (Phase 2)
Muscat Municipality has recently offered a tender for the construction of rainwater drainage canals in Mahaj area in Amirat (Phase II), after the first phase of this project has been completed. The region is known to be affected by flash floods of wadis, and it lacks surface water drainage system.
The detailed designs and the implementation of the first phase of the project have been completed, which included the implementation of a canal adjacent to the mountain to reduce the impact of sloping water, which leads to flooding in the residential area.
The project is to construct an open canal that is (18) meters wide and (1100) meters long, creation a box culvert containing (3) openings, that will be (3.5) meters wide and (2.5) meters high, and (880) meters long, and reconstruction of affected roads while current service lines will be transferred.
It is hoped that work will treat water accumulations in the area, whether during rainfalls or continuous water in the watercourse, and that can be achieved by opening the waterway that was closed after the area witnessed construction. And to enhance the commercial movement in the region, being one of the most important commercial areas in the state of al-Amirat.
