Unexpected Costs of Carrying out Unlicensed Businesses
A spokesperson in the urban inspection department of Muscat Municipality in Seeb explained that the practice of unlicensed activities entails some implications concerning health, environmental, economic and the society. Foodstuff displayed outside the shops to sunlight and high temperatures, which makes them unfit for consumption.
The place where such foodstuff and goods are stored lacks the health requirements that guarantee their quality, due to poor storage, which makes foodstuffs easily susceptible to contamination. In addition to that, some noisy activities are practised in places not designated for such purpose; such as carpentry, blacksmithing, car washing that are being held in residential neighbourhoods. This practice is considered illegal as it is carried out in public or private property not intended for these purposes.
