The General Directorate of the Muscat Municipality in Seeb gave a visual presentation on Monday morning about the service development projects being carried out by the municipality in 2012 (AD) in different fields of work. The presentation took place in the hall of the prefect of Seeb’s office and was attended by Dr. Ibrahim Rahbi, Director General of the General Directorate of the Muscat Municipality in Seeb, in addition to a number of police officers and a group of officials, sheikhs, and notable figures.

The most prominent projects

The presentation was opened with a few words from Dr. Ibrahim Rahbi, welcoming attendees and giving a general description of the Seeb province in terms of population and geography. After describing a few general points of information about the province, he showed the visual presentation that consisted of a group of current development and service projects. Most prominent among these was the completion of the project to add a third lane in its advanced stages from the Citrus roundabout to the Bayt Al Baraka roundabout with a length of 18 kilometers. Ibrahim Rahbi also talked about the lengths of the roads constructed last year, reaching 60 kilometers, and lighting 50 kilometers, in addition to the fish market project in Faleej and the sea front in Seeb.

Doubling Kheir Road

This project is currently underway, stretching 3 km from the traffic light at Ma’abila Industrial, passing by the Sayyid Taymor Bin Faisal Mosque, and ending at the roundabout just past the mosque.

Forsan Street Junction

The project aims to ease the flow of traffic heading to and from the Seeb market. The bridge here is an alternate way of entering the market.

Building the entrance to Wadi Al Arsh

This project aims to ease the flow of traffic coming in the direction of Wadi Al Arsh without needing to turn around at the Qasr roundabout. There is also a project to build a bridge on the sea road in the northern Heel, also with the goal in mind of making traffic more fluid in different weather conditions. Easing the flow of traffic will curb congestion once the seafront project has been completed.

Beautification and Parks

In terms of development, the exhibition explained the construction of a number of pedestrian walkways on Ras Heel Street at a length of 6 km, Sid Street at 5 km, Tameer Street at 8 km, Huda Street at 7 km, Mar Street in front of Sayyida Jalila Maizun Mosque at 4 km, and Dama Street at 4 km. 4 parks were also built in the southern Heel areas, the southern citrus areas, northern Ma’abila, and Khawd. A number of cemeteries were fenced with different lengths.

Development of the Jafnayn Area

Among projects that are currently underway is the Jafnayn development project, which looks to adding aesthetic touches to the area through planting palm trees, expanding parking spaces, and changing the billboards for some of the stores in the area to be appropriate with the south entrance of the Muscat governorate. The project also included the paving of certain parts of Jafnayn, Al Kharas, Saleel, and Al Hamara at a length of 5 km.

Beautification of the Industrial Zone

This project is of utmost importance in the Ma’abila Industrial Zone because of the vital role it plays in industry and commerce in the Seeb province. This role has become increasingly important in recent times, especially with the opening of the Muscat highway.

Seeb Fish Market

An awning for the fish market in Seeb province was completed as part of its sea fishing port project. This location was successfully made operational at the beginning of 2012 in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and the office of His Honor the prefect of Seeb along with other sheikhs and notable figures.

Truck stop

The Municipality has allocated a location for a truck stop in south Ma’abila. Traffic poles were installed to prevent trucks from stopping, and an announcement was distributed in local newspapers that it is forbidden for trucks to stop on public roads and in residential areas. The directorate also undertook in coordination with police centers in the province to issue violations to truck drivers who stop their vehicles on public roads and in residential areas.
