At a length of 6 kilometers and meeting the highest safety standards, the Muscat Municipality begins the first stage of the Ghala-Ansab road.

The Muscat Municipality recently opened the doubled Ghala-Ansab road (first stage) to traffic as part of efforts to expand the network of roads and increase traffic capacity in the Muscat Governorate.

The new road, with a length of 6 km, brought fluidity to the flow of traffic. It features two lanes in each direction, beginning from the Azeba junction at the Muscat highway heading toward the Ghala region.

The first stage entailed the construction of a 100 m bridge on the Ansab valley, based on hydrology studies of water levels in the area over 100 years. Additionally, a free junction was built to serve the Ansab and Ghala regions. The project provides Ansab with entrances and roundabouts and links it to the Ghala road. 3.5 km of the road was opened lasted year, while the remaining part of the road that was recently opened adds an additional 2.5 km. There are two roundabouts along this part of the road that runs from the Ghala airbase to the Ansab region, spreading out traffic. Channels and crossing points were put in place to drain rainwater so keep the road operational during all different weather conditions. The opening of this part of the road will help to smooth out the flow of traffic that currently passes through Ansab, where there are many schools, shops, and housing developments. Ample entrance ramps have been built along the road for different residential developments.

On a related note, the Muscat Municipality has recently approved the second stage of the project which shall begin at the end of the first stage and add another 3 km to the road.

The road includes roundabouts, free flow, and is equipped with all necessary safety measures.
