Muscat municipality As`Seeb intensifies its campaigns to remove Slums

In an attempt to implement all laws and regulations organising slums and negative phenomena which affect the public health, the Directorate General of Muscat municipality in As`Seeb extensive its efforts to remove the slums that cause deformation of the general appearance and organisation of the urban city.
Removal buildings apt to fall. The municipality and in collaboration with the Department of public prosecution and the Royal Oman police, have removed the buildings apt to fall, in addition to the abandoned buildings.
Based on local Order No. 23 / 92 on the organization of buildings in Muscat, Article no. (129) stipulates that owners of abandoned ruins and old buildings (not affected by the planning) have to stabilise them or install a fence of wood according to the specifications determined by the municipality.
Article (132) stipulates that the municipality has the right to commit the owner or his representative to reform and maintain his estate as required by the specifications of the municipality plus a fine between 100 to 500 OMR.
Mobile vendors. In order to reduce the phenomenon of random sale livestock in public places, the Directorate General of Muscat municipality in As`Seeb, in cooperation with the Royal Oman police, has implemented the juridical ruling on the removal livestock selling vehicles in Al-Mabellah south as owners failed to remove them within the legal time limit given.
For its part, Muscat municipality that it has established sunshades and barns equipped with all the necessary supplies for livestock in Al-Mabilah south so that owners of livestock selling vehicles can benefit from such advanteges.
Note that there was a meeting with the owners of those vehicles for several times in order to urge them to move to the sites allocated within the slaughterhouse for the sake of hygiene, to avoid visual, randomness, and the spread of irritating odors, and dust by the movement of cars on site, and the spread of rodents and insects to homes neighbouring the site of the sale of livestock.
Article (3) of the local order, stipulates that driving cars and bikes in the parks or on the beaches is a violation and is fined of not more than (100) riyals or imprisonment for a term not exceeding two months.
